This is going to sound somewhat crazy, but during the next few years, I want to have some procedures done and need to know how to calculate an out of pocket cost for all. I am almost 46 years old.. and yes, I have gained quite a bit of weigtht in the past year.. I was a slim 110 lbs.. now I weigh 150 lbs because I am on a medication that makes me legthargic.. I don't eat more than before but because i take this medication I gained 40 lbs.. my normal weight would be 120 lbs for 5ft 4.. and now he tells me I also suffer from hypothyroidism.. he said my cholesterol is excellent so are kidneys and liver but my thyroid is working too slow.. well that causes fatigue and weight gain on top of the medication I am taking.. I am 46 in a couple of weeks. I guess I don't fool myself when I look into the mirror and think that I don't have to lose some weight.. but I am overweight.. not obese.. for my height I am overweight.. obese is something different and he tells me.. yes ha ha I can remember when you came to my practice for the first time.. and my oh my now you are big... and you were so slim then and you are .. Look at you .. you are big...? Do I have to put up with that from him.. when i weigh 150 lbs and know I am overweight.. but nobody in the street turns around and says.. she looks big.. I look relatively normal.. I see so many young Canadians who are heavier than I am.. and I am not depressed at all normally and I joked back when i was in his office but on the way back I had tears in my eyes about his remark and i guess if i was 16 I would immediately start to not eat anymore at all or turn bulemic.. because it's remarks like that which really can cause more harm than good...I can see in the mirror.. I don't say I don't need to lose weight but equally I am not big.. I am for my height. like this lady is for her height.. I only passed a magazine stall .. and only read what Demi Moore had had done on her body and face and we are the same age.. I don't go by what magazines say but I read the cover page.. that she spent $470.000 for botox, liposuction, cellulite removal.. well no I don't look like Demi Moore.. but i also never had anything done to make me look younger or the most I had done in my life is having had my hair coloured to get rid of the gray .. at my age with dark hair.. I guess that's normal.. A doctor has a right to tell a patient to lose weight for their health but he didn't say I need to lose any weight for my health.. he only wanted to have a laugh at my expense because in November 2006 i weighed 110 lbs at age 44 and now at age almost 46 i weigh 150 lbs and he finds that hilarious... http://xfa.xanga.com/7b6c54f217030182922367/z140050272.png This chart says I am overweight for my height.. it doesn't say make funny jokes or that I am huge.. I know Brenda.. it's my medication that made me so tired and fatigued that I had to stop exercising.. I only eat small portions.. it's the lack of exercise that got me this big and the obvious hypothyroid problem.. if the thyroid works slow.. hypo you get tired and gain weight.. if you have hyperthyroidism you lose weight... plus my meds I have to take for GAD made me gain weight and make me tired.. that is the problem I stopped exercisig and I gained weight due to lack of energy to exercise.. I eat small portions.. I don't believe the doctor is doing anything illegal in saying I am big.. when I was 110 lbs in 2006 and am 150 lbs now.. he is right .. compared to the weight I had then I am now big but he is not a person with a lot of tact...that doesn't make his statement illegal and I definitely won't think of sueing for telling me I am a big ''girl now'' he is right but he is an idot to be so blunt.. in a 16 year old it could cause anorexia or bulemia to make such remarks.. it's not against the law to say this.. there is freedom of speech but I find it aggravating
