What is the deal with these things.. do they really work? are there side effects? whats in them? have any of you tried them?

They do work, and it's an inch reduction, not a weight loss thing. Basically it compresses all the tissues and sort of compacts things. They smear you with mud and wrap you up in bandages soaked in a protein solution, turn the heat on, and leave you to marinate for about three quarters of an hour. The stuff they put on you, plus the compression of the bandages, plus the heat equals more compactness in certain areas. It lasts about a month or so.
